New Carlisle Indiana Newborn Photographer | Changes for 2023

Happy 2023! It’s a new year and I know we all have new goals. Some of my biggest goals this year are business related, and I can’t wait to share some of these exciting changes with you. First up, was this new website! It was a labor of love and it’s still definitely a work in progress. One of my goals is actually blogging regularly, with information that will be helpful to my clients. This one is important if you are a past client thinking about booking a session with me in 2023, so I do encourage you to take some time to read it to understand some of the changes that are happening!

It’s hard to believe that I’m in year 10 of my business already! The years really do fly by. Over these years I’ve made some changes to the way I do things, but it’s always easy to get comfortable and stay the same. Other changes I’ve been really wanting to make, but have been hesitant to make out of fear. I know these changes will be better for both my business and my amazing clients in the long run, so I just have to bite the bullet and do it! Change is hard, but necessary.

If you’ve had photos with me any time in the past, you know I deliver online, digital galleries with a print release. I know we all love digitals, because they’re easy and fun to show off on social media. But after that initial day that you post them, what happens to them? They get buried in peoples newsfeeds, never to really be seen again. You might get ambitious and print a few 5x7s or 8x10s (if you get around to printing any at all), probably at the place that is the cheapest and quickest. Chances are they look nothing like the digital, because most cheap and easy places aren’t calibrated to print the colors correctly. And you might feel a little disappointed when you see it in print, because it’s underwhelming when printed small and not printed correctly. I know this, because I have done the same thing many, many times!

And this makes me sad! You spent so much time planning your outfits, getting your husband to agree to the session, getting yourself and your family ready, bribing your kids to behave and smile, and then these gorgeous memories are never turned into artwork to display in your home. So you just spent good money on getting these digitals and they are either sitting on your hard drive or look kind of terrible in print. This isn’t the way it’s meant to be!

Over the last year, I’ve been testing some professional print labs to find the labs that print my images the way I edited them and intended them to be, and finding products that I think you will love. Honestly, when I got my album sample in the mail I gasped out loud! Even though I take and edit pictures all the time, seeing them in high quality print was a totally new experience for me, too! WHY have I not been sharing these things with my clients!! They need to see their images displayed like this!!

I decided I can’t hold back any more, I have to make these changes. The beauty in quality printed artwork cannot even compare to a digital image! I want you to be able to have tangible memories that you can proudly display and share with friends and family. I want you to have heirloom items that can be passed down from generation to generation. Digital formatting has changed so much over the years (floppy discs, hard discs, CDs, USBs) only to become a dead technology in a few years. We used to use MySpace for photos, and where did that go? What happens when Facebook disappears and that’s the only place you shared your photos? What happens to your images that are sitting on a disc or on a USB when these options aren’t available to us anymore?

which one would you rather display in your home?

which one stands the test of time?

Prints and artwork will never be a dead technology. These will always stand the test of time.

I have a good start on my samples, but I have many others in mind. Keep an eye out, because I will be sharing as I get more in! I can’t wait for you to see them and proudly display them in your home!
